Yin Yoga classes provide an opportunity to stop and listen to the wisdom of our body and spirit. Postures are explored for three to five minutes at a time. This allows the connective tissues in and around our joints to open. Yin Yoga stimulates energy movement along our meridians. Mindfulness techniques are introduced and inspired readings are woven into the class.
Deep Yin Yoga
We will be going beyond the basic understanding of the practice, exploring different themes and staying in postures longer. This class is only available to students who have attended at least 10 of Carly's Yin classes.
Restorative Yoga
If Yoga styles were a buffet, it is often said that Restorative postures would be on the dessert menu! This class explores a variety of supported postures that are designed to place the body in a position to deeply relax and replenish, dismantle chronic tension patterns, improve immune function, and bring the body and mind back to their original state of equilibrium. Most restorative postures are adaptations of classical yoga postures, but the supported and nurturing emphasis of each position allows you to relax for much longer periods of time than you might if you practiced the posture more actively. Restorative Yoga is equally nourishing when feeling depleted or recovering from an illness, or as an ideal complement to a regular or more vigorous practice, helping to build stores of energy that can prevent conditions of stress and pave the way toward rejuvenation and well being.
Vinyasa Flow
Think of a choreographed series of yoga postures designed to still the mind, invigorate the body, and concentrate the breath and you begin to imagine Vinyasa yoga. Roughly translated as breath coordinated movement or variations within prescribed parameters Vinyasa yoga sequences interconnect static poses with dynamic transitions. A classical Vinyasa yoga class starts by centering the mind in the body through breathing. It then proceeds through a warming cycle of strengthening and lengthening postures concluding with a resting phase to cool the body and integrate the effects. The outcome of a Vinyasa Flow class can be euphoric and is almost always profoundly relaxing.
Meditation with Movement w/ Grayson
Viriyam is a complete bodymind fitness adventure into the realm of wisdom and purity. Buddhist-inspired exercises and mindfulness meditation designed to awaken us to the reality of Serene-Trust, leading to "Strong Body, Gentle Heart."
Flow/Yin
Opening with Yin poses held for up to five minutes, focusing on lengthening connective tissue and opening the joints before moving into a more dynamic flow practice.
Hatha
The word Hatha comes from the Sanskrit terms "ha" meaning "sun" and "tha" meaning "moon". Hatha is the most popular form of yoga and is the basis for other popular yoga such as Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Bikram and Kundalini. In Hatha yoga, you will learn to control your breathing in a relaxed and modulated way in order to provide focus in different postures. Through the holding of poses and continued practice of Asanas, proper alignment and mindful actions of the body can be found. Hatha yoga brings balance, strength, and a sense of well-being to the practitioner. Hatha yoga is a great way to start your yoga journey and is a wonderful launching pad for further development.
Pilates/Yoga Fusion
Pilates is a body-mind exercise technique designed to strengthen deep abdominal muscles, improve posture, co-ordination, flexibility and deepen body awareness. This fusion class is the best of both worlds, combining the principles, the subtle releasing and abdominal work of Pilates with an energizing Hatha/Vinyasa flow.
